oss-osi-approved planned guide

Overview

Mixpost Lite provides a calendar and publishing tools for Facebook Pages, Mastodon profiles and X profiles. Coworking staff could schedule approved event and office-availability posts on those channels. Other networks, approval flows, the posting queue and advanced analytics belong to paid editions and must not be assumed available in Lite.

Cost reality

Lite is free software with server, storage, domain and administration costs. Pro, Enterprise, Cloud and professional installation are paid options. Verify network API access and charges separately.

Plans, provider terms and prices change; check official sources before making a budget or deployment decision.

Tasks reduced or augmented

Software does not replace community or ops staff. It may reduce or augment:

  • Prepare and schedule approved posts on Lite-supported networks
  • Organize marketing media, post labels and calendar entries

Human oversight still needed

  • Review every post and member-image permission before scheduling
  • Maintain provider credentials and recover failed publications

Manual process this can replace

Structured task-fit review has not been completed for this tool. Treat the free-text examples above as evaluation prompts, not replacement claims.

Data held

  • social account credentials and tokens

  • post drafts and media

  • publication history

  • basic analytics

  • Personal data: yes

  • Payment data: no / not primary

Collect only data needed for the pilot and confirm access, deletion and export behavior before operational adoption.

Risks

AreaNotes
Vendor lock-inExport, migration and restore behavior have not been tested; retain a practical manual fallback before depending on the tool.
SecurityProtect OAuth secrets and media, restrict administration, monitor queues and install security updates. Use a public domain with TLS for provider communication.
ComplianceCheck image rights, member consent, advertising claims and provider terms before posting.
LicensingThis record covers the MIT-licensed Lite repository only. Pro and Enterprise are commercial products with separate terms; their network connectors and features are not licensed by the Lite MIT grant.
OperationalLite supports a narrower network set than paid editions. Staff approval must happen outside Lite unless a separately licensed edition provides the required approval flow.

Coworking fit

Roles: marketing, community-manager, technical-operator

Workflows: marketing-campaigns, community-programming

Problems: reduce-manual-admin, self-host-for-data-control

Smallest useful experiment

Install Lite on a test subdomain, connect one supported test account, and schedule three approved event posts while a named staff member checks every publication.

Verification

Bounded official-source metadata review only. Features and edition boundaries were read; installation, task-fit evaluation, operator outcomes, integrations, security and recovery were not tested. Retained in Research Backlog; not a recommendation.
